LADIES ONLY TOUR 2023

The anticipation was great and we had to wait a long time until the time had finally come. However, Peter didn't really mean well with us at first. Rain was announced for Friday… and in sufficient quantity. But GS riders don't let anything or anyone hold them back.

The German delegation met in Jengen, where we had already had the first rain shower. From there we went south-west on a route well planned by Angelika and Sylvia, until we met the tour guide and Swiss delegation in Lustenau at the agreed meeting point in personal union Silvia. If we had known that the "Stamm-Friseur" in Lustenau lives up to its name, we would have either taken a detour or actually had a new haircut.

After a little refreshment we continued towards Switzerland and up to the Schwägalp in the Alpstein mountains - a Swiss motorcycle classic par excellence. The wetness from above and below allowed us to make comfortable progress... but as the saying goes: the journey is the reward! Once at the top of the pass, the thirst had to be quenched and a photo break - despite the low-hanging fog - inserted. In the pub, a yodeller choir - a genuinely Swiss tradition - gave a taste of the best. We were thrilled from so much Swissness!!! 😉

The journey continued to Klöntalersee and up to the Pragelpass. Despite the bad weather, you could guess how beautiful and original nature is there. The road was narrow, the curves even tighter in places – we had the world to ourselves for that. Amazing that it was found that a GS also has a rain mode.

When he finally arrived down in the valley, Peter also had an understanding and from then on held back quite a bit. We soon reached our first place to stay: the Gasthaus Tübli in Gersau – located directly on Lake Lucerne – on the Swiss Riviera. In the rustic Swiss ambience, we first treated ourselves to a "Sottole beer" and then a cozy, delicious dinner and let the evening end with the Central Swiss specialty "Kafi-Träsch". Certain excesses and a "deep, healthy sleep" suggested that the Träsch also had an effect.

How nice that the sun was shining from the sky the next morning, which could not yet be said of some of the faces present. Freshly strengthened, we tackled the second stage, which took us back and forth through Central Switzerland (Michaelskreuz, Raten, Etzelpass, Sattelegg, Ibergeregg) and more or less away from the mainstream. Lots of curves, narrow streets, donkeys, cows on and off road, up, down, lake here, lake there, bridges with and without roofs, always surprising panoramic and wide views to the mountain peaks of the Alps, covered by eternal snow. Switzerland presented itself like in a picture book.

That not only we couldn't get over the amazement, but also the milkman had to be amazed at this tough group and he quickly put his truck into reverse gear to clear the passage towards the summit for us.

Full of impressions and with great experiences in our luggage, we arrived at the Hotel Klausenpass in the evening. A new, very special and absolutely recommendable house with an unbelievable view, rooms in Alpine style - simple but functional, attentive and friendly service... and all of that at moderate prices. The food was also delicious and the crowning glory of the evening was the Kafi Träsch, which has already become a tradition.

The next day, strengthened by the delicious breakfast buffet, we went down over the Urnerboden into the valley and from there we explored a part of eastern Switzerland. Over the Kerenzerberg high above the Walensee, partly along the Tamina Gorge, through the Bündnerdominion, up the Lutzisteig and through the Principality of Liechtenstein we went back to Lustenau where we ended our tour with a Greek.

It was an all-round great weekend with wonderful people, beautiful landscapes, great machines, lots of impressions and great experiences.

We are looking forward to the 2024 tour - the plan is to make the Moselle unsafe, including wine tastings 😊 we'll see...!
