GS Weekend Bavarian Forest

After two weather-related postponements, the weather forecast for the planned event finally played along. Also on board were Gerhard, Justus, Otto and Jutta, Thilo and Sandra, and Anja and Rainer, who arrived at Peter`s and Christine's Ranch on Daxstein on Friday late afternoon and after the hosts first saw the dogs, geese, mule, Greeted sheep, guinea pigs, chickens and cats.
The place Daxstein is a small mountain village on the southern slope of the Brotjackl bar, which is the first higher mountain in the Bavarian Forest at 1011 m from the Danube.
Since not all of the participants had personally met, we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner on Friday evening with the best view. The evening ended very comfortably with Peter over a beer (or was it two?).

Saturday morning the tour through the Bavarian Forest was announced. From the Daxstein, we drove south on small roads with the best motorcycle weather towards Passau through small hamlets and towns.

Via Thurmannsbang / Solla, which is known from the annual elephant meeting at the end of January / beginning of February, we briefly visited the Saldenburg, Englburg and Fürstenstein Castle, which were closed due to the corona pandemic. So we only had a look from the outside of the apartments of the knights and damsels. Then it went east and for the first coffee break in Ringelai. Unfortunately, the hotel with the adjoining beer garden was still closed, so the coffee machine in the bakery next door made us sweat. We could still use the beer garden for a break.

The next destination was the Bavarian Forest National Park, which we crossed in a northerly direction along the Czech border over the Arber area to Zwiesel for lunch. Then the highest point in the Bavarian Forest - the Great Arber - was tackled. It was also teeming with bikers, the Arbersee is a popular meeting point for bikers of all stripes.

From the northernmost point of the tour in Bad Kötzing we then went south via Viechtach, St. Englmar and a coffee break at Gut Schmelmerhof in Rettenbach to Egg Castle in Bernried just before Degendorf, which was used as the backdrop for the films “Bibi Blocksberg” and “Five Friends”. served. Unfortunately we couldn't go inside either because a wedding party was staying there.

We then cruised back to the Daxstein via the Rusel mountain route.

In total we were on the road for approx. 300 km and thanks to Peter's excellent tour planning everything was included: fast country roads, small and very small roads, lots of curves and even one or two dirt roads.

The culinary highlight was the barbecue. We filled our bellies with meat and sausages from the local butcher of fabulous quality and delicious salads prepared by Christine and her mom. It was also a hard day - at least that was the reason for the corresponding consumption.
On Sunday there was a hearty white sausage breakfast before the participants went back home.

There is still a warm thank you to Peter and Christine for the excellent accommodation (especially the view is awesome) and food to say. It was great fun for all of us and it was a relaxing, relaxing weekend.

Thank you very much - the event can be again.
