At the 2020 annual general meeting, our members decided that the club's charity project would be the "Osteomyelitis Hilfe eV”With a donation.
Osteomyelitis is a bacterial infection of the bone that cannot heal without treatment, leads to the destruction of the affected bone and leaves severe disabilities.
If left untreated, most patients die of sepsis (blood poisoning). In developing countries, children between the ages of 2 and 15 are almost exclusively affected. The most common causes are malnutrition and poor hygienic conditions.
The treating doctors are often confronted with children in whom the affected bones have already visibly protruded from the skin and who are suffering from severe pain.
This disease, which is completely unknown to us, occurs very frequently in developing countries: According to statistics from the CoRSU Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, around 22% of all operations carried out there are directly related to osteomyelitis. Often several operations are necessary in consecutive years, especially if the affected child is still growing. (Source: Osteomyelitis Hilfe eV)

In “normal” times we would have donated the income from the annual Christmas party raffle in addition to the 10% of the membership fees stipulated in our statutes. Unfortunately, this had to be canceled due to the corona-related contact restrictions.
We have therefore made an appeal to our members and asked for donations for this project. The result was phenomenal: at the beginning of 2021 we were able to reach the amount of EUR 2.350,00 to the Osteomyelitis Hilfe e.V. as a donation from the club. Our annual donation was therefore at the same level as in previous years - even without the raffle. A big thank you to all donors.
